Anthony Byrne - Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister
As Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Anthony Byrne approves policy for legislation and sits on the Parliamentary Business Committee which determines the Government’s legislative program. Anthony also assists with the Prime Minister’s correspondence and approves Ministerial Guest of Government invitations.
Anthony has responsibility for the National Security Science and Technology Unit, a branch within the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet that is responsible for the coordination of counter terrorism science and technology research and development on behalf of the Commonwealth.
Recently, Anthony has also been made responsible for the Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS). The function of the AIFS is to promote the identification and understanding of factors affecting marital and family stability in Australia.
